History

In 1917, Mr. Clyde Anderson began selling the latest magazines and newspapers on a Florence, Alabama sidewalk in a makeshift shed. It wasn't long before he moved the business to a more permanent location in downtown Florence.

Mr. Anderson soon recognized markets far beyond the Florence area and Anderson News Company became the second wholesale distributor in the southeast. In 1918, the company was servicing five retail accounts, and by the 1920s, Anderson News had expanded its area to include Sheffield, Tuscumbia, Russellville, Decatur, and Huntsville, Alabama.
